GINKGO GENETIC TESTING

Ginkgo sex identification by genetic testing

From pre-planting checks to street-tree management,
identify ginkgo sex through genetic analysis.

01 / GENETIC IDENTIFICATION

When appearance is not enough, examine genetic differences.

This test amplifies and analyzes genetic differences associated with ginkgo sex in real time. Discuss the number of trees and sample preparation for your planting or management needs.

01

Before landscaping or planting

Use sex identification to inform planting arrangements and management plans.

02

Street-tree management

Identify the sex of managed ginkgo trees to support planning for fruit-related maintenance.

03

Nursery production and supply

Match sample identifiers to test results for individual-tree records.

02 / SAMPLE GUIDE

One tree, one identifier, one bag

Prepare leaves or twigs and package each tree separately. No. 1 and No. 2 in the photographs are example sample identifiers, not fixed codes for leaves and twigs.

  1. Assign a unique identifier to each tree

Assign a different identifier to each tree, such as No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3. Keep a record of each tree’s location and identifier to match it to the results.

  2. Collect and seal each tree’s samples separately

Seal 2–3 leaves or bud-bearing twigs from the same tree in one zipper bag. Do not mix samples from different trees. Samples must have no surface water; rotten or moldy material cannot be analyzed.

  3. Match bag labels to the request form

Clearly mark the sample identifier on the outside of each bag and enter the same identifier in the online request. Example: bag No. 1 → form No. 1 / leaves / 1 tree. Three leaves from one tree still count as one tree.

  4. Pack with your request details

Place the labeled bags in a box and protect them from crushing or tearing. Include a printed request form or a note with your request reference, name and phone number. Check the bag count against the number of trees on the form.

  5. Ship to GENonLAB with freight payable by the recipient

FAQ

Questions before submission

How long does testing take?

The leaflet lists 3 days for fewer than 100 trees and 5 days for 100 or more. Before shipping, tell us the number of trees and requested result date so we can confirm intake conditions and the final schedule.

Can I submit samples when there are no leaves?

In spring or winter, when leaves are absent, prepare 2–3 twigs with leaf buds. If you are unsure about the buds or collection site, contact us before collecting.

How do I submit samples from multiple trees?

Package samples separately for each tree and label them with identifiers. Share the total number of trees and sample type so we can discuss submission and scheduling.

How do I check pricing and the report format?

A quotation is provided for your quantity and submission requirements. Tell us before submission if you need specific report details or intend to use it for a particular purpose.

Can I ship samples immediately?

Contact GENonLAB first to confirm preparation, acceptance and the shipping address. If samples are wet, rotten or moldy, ask us before shipping.

Who pays the sample shipping charge?

Ship samples to GENonLAB with freight payable by the recipient. Check that each individually packed bag matches the sample identifier on the request form.

Does analysis start as soon as samples arrive?

Analysis proceeds after sample receipt, condition checks and payment confirmation. Our team provides the testing fee and payment instructions separately.
